The Big Freeze?

That's what they are calling it - the Big Freeze - where most of the UK got hit with heavy snow for much of the first half of January. We got some here in West Wales, but being on the coast it wasn't so bad - didn't have any trouble getting in to work, as the bus ran every day no problem.

Anyway, here's my run down on January's weather, and if you want to see a more technical rendering the weather station now has its very own blog.

June / July Weather Summary

Not been the best of bloggers recently, including a lack of weather updates.

Herewith therefore the weather for June and July - only no weather station data because it doesn't seem to have recorded anything other than the first 4 days of June (having rediscovered the lost data for the end of May as well - couldn't be bothered to reblog that though!). Maybe the data for the rest of June, July and August will reappear in due course . . . I can but hope!

JUNE (pretty good on the whole):

JULY (not quite so good, and missing a few days when we were out of town . . .) :

May-be the Weather was Good?

The weather station continues to confuse me, this time it seems to have recorded all the data from the last download until the 24 May, with no record thereafter - really don't know what is going on!

Anyway, here's the weather record for May, not so good actually (and again incomplete - as will be June's in due course!):

Spring Weather

Haven't weather-blogged for a while, so here we go. March and April really weren't that bad - in fact the end of March brought some nice warm days if I remember rightly, and April was pretty good on the whole as well. Thus far May is actually feeling distinctly colder.

Still having technical problems with the weather-station data - this time I'm missing everything from my last download (17 March) through to 14 April - ah well . . . investigations are ongoing. Let me know if you have any ideas.

Anyway here is the run down, incomplete as it is, on March and April:

Weather I Should Blog . . .

Not been the best blogger of late, and must admit that the weather thing had got rather boring - so moving to a monthly summary, here are the last two months, pictorially, and from the weather station record (temperature only). *

*The latter suffers from a small glitch - somehow lost all my data from 26th January to 6th February.

On the whole not a bad couple of months, and we're having some lovely Spring weather just now (more info at the end of March - presuming I get round to it!)

Hi-Tech Weather

The weather reports will benefit now from a slightly more hi-tech data source, with automatic recording via my new wireless weather station - pictured here in situ on the side of the garage.

The internal reader panel shows the temperature and humidity outside (and inside), pressure, wind speed and direction, and rainfall, among other things.

So for the first few days of January, my lo-tech system gives us:

And the weather station recorded outside temperatures as follows, and a somewhat measly 0.6mm of rain on Friday 4th, with winds that never got above 1 on the Beaufort Scale:

Last week similarly comes out as:

Sunday 11th stands out as the point at which we passed over into a wet and mild period - Sunday night (or rather Monday morning) certainly sounded wet and windy, although apparently we only had about 8mm of rain overnight, and the wind only gusted up to 4 on the Beaufort Scale.

Unfortunately we've no figures to compare with from last year, as we come up to our first year anniversary in the house - will be interesting to make some comparisons in 2010 - particularly as we planning to get some better insulation / double glazing fitted (will be digging out the inside temperature graphs then).
