Resurfacing the Drive

The next major job on the list was resurfacing the drive, which got underway this afternoon.  They started by cleaning down the old drive surface.

Then it was on with two layers of tar, spread with gravel.







And a couple of hours later we have a nice new drive . . .




It's quite a loose surface, which is probably a good thing if we ever get any snow or ice again (it will give us a bit of grip), but we'll see how it holds up over the coming months.  Looks a lot better anyway.

A small selection of the offerings from my birthday present this year - an infra-red wildlife camera, that can be moved around the garden to different locations.  First shots taken in daylight, caught birds and the local squirrel, cleaning up under the bird feeder:

Out and About

With family in town we were out and about this weekend, visiting some of our local haunts.

Not least that perennial favourite, Llanerchaeron - no piglets this time, but there was a very impressive turkey huffing and strutting his way around the farmyard.

Hadn't really seen one close up before, and must say he appeared a very alien looking creature - think he needed to express his dominance as there was quite a lot of feather shaking, and vocal display going on.


Moved on to tour the gardens and lake, and later on went up to some local woodland for a bit of a wander, listening to the birds, and admiring the views:

All in all a nice weekend - the sun even shone for us!
