Lighting Up

Time for another visit to family - fitting in some pre-Christmas tasks (such as sorting out the festive lights in the parent's garden, and bringing down the Christmas decorations).

Our visit also coincided with the switching on of the town Christmas lights - and with the 'fountain' in storage this year (due to the ongoing revamp of the town centre) - the 'tree' was the focus of the festivities.

And boy did it attract some attention - perhaps you can see why!

Likened to the 'leaning tower of Pisa', it made the evening news bulletin, and was even trending on the BBC News website!  

Apparently it is all down to a 'bent trunk' and it is perfectly safe, but they are going to contact the supplier 'in the hopes that next year's tree is a better one' . . .  

This one at least won't be forgotten any time soon!

Christmas Bling

In these 'interesting times' the lights of Christmas add a welcome bit of sparkle to life - so time to get our bling on . . .

I do like my bling - it's always such a pity when it has to come down again . . .

Early Christmas

This weekend saw us going cross-country for a pre-Christmas visit to family who we won't see during the festive break itself.


Weather could have been better, but we did find enough of a break in the rain to take in the very fresh air - and the sights, e.g. Santa's boating trip!


Good to meet up with everyone - enjoyed a 'festive' take-away and exchanged gifts - and got to see the always excellent local Christmas lights:

Switching on the Lights

Visiting family took us across country this weekend, just in time for the switching-on of the local Christmas lights.


Must say they do a good job, they'd closed the town centre to host a small fair, and some river boats were decorated for the occasion making a real picture of the river:

All in all, a fitting start to the festive season . . .
