Out and About

February seems to have gone almost before it arrived. Not actually done much around the house / garden - it's remained rather too cold to start planting anything - there are still no daffodils out yet (I'm sure that by St David's Day last year they were almost over!).

Been really busy at work though, was down in Cardiff one week, attending a conference at St Fagans: National History Museum.

The conference was good, but it was also really interesting getting to look round some of the buildings, and spotting the bits they'd used to film Dr Who episodes! It's definitely on the list for a return visit later this year for a proper look round.

This last week was up in North Wales for a couple of days - luckily the weather stayed nice for the most part, and I could admire the snowy views on the drive, without actually getting caught in any blizzards. The road through Beddgelert was particularly stunning (should have taken the main road, but SatNav was set to shortest route and I didn't twig that it was taking me over the high ground at first!), unfortunately I didn't have time to stop for photos .

Otherwise where we are seems to have escaped any more snow - no more than an occasional dusting / hard frost anyway - just enough to provide some good photo opportunities:

Swans and Shakespeare

Well as you may have gathered there's some belated blogging going on here. There'll be no weather for last week as we weren't actually in Wales, but travelling round the country.

We saw Swans in Welney . . .

and Ducks in Ely . . .

and strange signs in Stratford-upon-Avon . . .

Waiting is apparently prohibited on 'Even Dates' - but why hanging around on a corner of the pavement in Stratford should be such a heinous crime is anyone's guess! We were careful to move on quickly - didn't want to get locked up on the night we had tickets for Hamlet.

Not sure it's quite what the Bard himself would have expected, but very good - David Tennant made an excellent Hamlet!

Playing Catch Up

Well it's been over a week since the last blog entry - so there's some catching up to do.


We had three days in Cardiff, saw the Millennium Centre (or 'Torchwood Central' as I like to think of it) - was most disappointed that the water on the tall silver 'sculpture' was switched off.




Also went to see the Dr Who exhibition nearby - not bad exhibits on the whole, but very noisy, and there could have been more of it . . .




On our way back visited Castell Coch just outside Cardiff - very atmospheric, with beautiful interiors in the main rooms. Unfortunately the weather had turned (after a good couple of days) and it chucked it down while we were there. Not so bad for us - felt sorry for the wedding party . . .
