Wildlife at Work

WARNING
Please do not use this cigarette bin.
Wildlife nesting

Was intrigued to see this sign on the cigarette bin outside work - then one day caught the blue-tits going in and out feeding their young.

You wouldn't think that the aroma of stale cigarettes and constant foot traffic going in and out of the nearby gates, would make for a blue-tit 'des res', but it obviously suited them.  Will have to see if they come back next year!

Enticing the Mice

Nice day, sitting in the sun on the bench, and enticing the mice with sunflower seeds . . .  better here than in the fruit cage!

Health and Safety

The open staircase here hasn't been a problem for us up to now, but I've had a bit of dodgy knee for the last few months, and decided that a stair rail might be a good idea after all.

So we got the builders back for one last job . . .

Finished varnishing it today - matches in with the pine woodwork elsewhere, and it feels a lot safer now going downstairs, and helps me haul myself upstairs when the knee is playing up!
